"Sis, Your Feet Are Beautiful — But Are You Wearing Borrowed Stilettos?"
Have you ever tried to walk in someone else’s shoes—literally or spiritually—and found out they just don’t fit?
In this episode of Her Voice Is a Weapon™, I share a vivid dream God gave me about wearing someone else’s spiritual stilettos. At first, they seemed perfect. They were given to me in good faith… but I later found out they didn’t even belong to the person who gave them to me.
I could walk in them for a while, but eventually, I had to take them off. Why? Because they represented something dangerous: living under someone else’s identity, vision, or systems instead of walking authentically in who God created me to be.
And yes—living in your authentic self is scary. It forces you to rely on the One who created you. But here’s the good news: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit can be trusted—not only with your heart, but with your Kingdom assignment.
The Comparison Trap
I realized I had been comparing my journey to someone else’s—someone who had a community, courses, and a thriving business… but they had been at it for years. I wasn’t there yet.
I was in the rebuilding stages. And God reminded me:
“Your feet are beautiful. Your story is beautiful. But they’re yours—no one else’s.”
It was time to stop trying to squeeze into another woman’s “designer shoes” and start walking confidently in my own, and from a healed place.
Why Borrowed Shoes Will Always Hurt, Eventually
When you walk in borrowed spiritual shoes—systems, assignments, or visions that aren’t yours, for too long—you’ll eventually feel the pinch. You may trip. You may even start building something that God never told you to build.
And here’s the truth:
- No one can walk your walk or talk your talk better than you.
- No one else has your exact testimony, calling, or voice.
- Trying to copy someone else’s steps will delay your own breakthrough.
Action Steps: How to Walk in Your Own God-Given Shoes
1. Identify the “Borrowed Shoes” in Your Life
Ask yourself:
- Am I modeling my business or calling after someone else’s blueprint instead of God’s?
- Am I feeling pressured to launch, scale, or serve in ways that don’t fit my current season?
- Am I confusing inspiration with imitation?
2. Return What Doesn’t Belong to You
Spiritually speaking, take off those shoes. Pray this aloud:
“Lord, I return every borrowed system, identity, or assignment. I receive the blueprint You wrote for me before the foundation of the world.”
3. Strengthen Your Feet for Your Own Journey
Invest time in building what God told you to build—not what you saw someone else succeed in. (Unless the Lord leads you to glean for a season). This may mean focusing on a few consistent steps:
- Writing your blog or podcast episodes
- Sending weekly emails
- Stewarding the audience you already have
4. Trust the Process
Your shoes will fit better with each step you take in faith. Remember: your pace is perfect when it’s set by the One who called you.
Key Takeaways
- Borrowed shoes look good but hurt in the long run — you can’t walk freely in someone else’s assignment.
- Your story is your designer label — no one can replicate it, and it’s worth wearing confidently.
Authenticity requires trust — in God’s timing, God’s methods, and God’s provision.
Final Encouragement
Sis, your feet are beautiful. But they’re beautiful because of the journey God has walked you through, is walking you through and will walk you through, not because they look like someone else’s. It’s time to walk in your authentic self, doing it God’s way.
You won’t lose anything—only gain more—when you trust the process.
But If:
- You feel stuck, burned out, or confused about your calling.

About Me + Brand Story
Hi, I’m Idina—a Kingdom entrepreneur, Holy Spirit-led coach, and voice of truth called to help women heal, rediscover their God-given identity, and build with clarity and excellence. My story is one of surrender, faith, and resilience. I know what it’s like to strive for validation, tie myself to the wrong people, and face the pain of misplaced trust—even within the church. But God healed me, restored my voice, and taught me how to build from a place of wholeness and Kingdom alignment to build healthy relationships with Him and with others.
